Mammoth Trips Overview
The club has at least one trip per month during the ski season with a mix of both weekend and midweek trips. The trips are typically 3-4 nights in length. In addition to the opportunity to ski/snowboard one of the west coast’s premier mountains, the club also has a social evening and another evening with a club hosted dinner. The weekend trips are typically Thursday through Sunday, and the midweek trips are typically Sunday through Thursday. The club also offers an extended trip to coincide with the Ski Ride Race Camp in December. The club also tries to overlap one of their trips with a Ripping Over 50 Camp.
The club rents condos in the Snowflower complex, located near Minaret and Old Mammoth Road. The Red Line shuttle for the town of Mammoth has a stop right outside the complex which makes it easy to get to and from the Main Lodge or even to the other lodges on the mountain. The condos are configured with two bedrooms, each with an attached bathroom, and a loft space with multiple beds. Members can choose to have an entire bedroom to themselves, share a bedroom with another member (to save some money) or take a bed in the shared loft space. The Pre-Trip Organizer works to limit the number of people in the loft to just two people of the same gender.
The club also works with members to help find others to share a ride to and from southern California to Mammoth Mountain. A big help for those newer members who may not have a “snow appropriate” vehicle, are uncomfortable driving in the snow alone or just want some company on the drive. The club does not use buses to transport members, allowing members to set their own travel schedule to and from Mammoth. This allows some members to leave early the first day or stay later the last day to get an extra half-day on the slopes. Some members even do both to maximize their time on the slope and avoid the limits imposed by a fixed bus schedule.
